Karina Dale Blue Dreams Tag Tutorial

Supplies needed:

Scrapkit of choice - I used my own PTU kit “Blue Dreams”. If you’re interested in purchasing the kit, visit Digital Chaos.

Scraps needed: 2 papers, frame, glitter, chain link (optional), heart or other accent

Tube or Image of choice – I am using an awesome tube by Karina Dale, www.karinadale.com . I purchased her art through PTE. Do not use her work unless you have purchased the right to do so.

Font of choice – I am using “AmoreATT”, but you can use any font you like.

Mask of choice – I am using boundlessbliss_grungemask_1 (Sorry, her blog has been removed, so not sure where to get this mask if you don’t have it.)

Plugin – Mura’s Meister: Copies (Free to Use)

Optional - Eye Candy 3.1: Glow (Free to Use).

All links and supplies shared with permission.

This tutorial is written using PSP X2, but should be easy to do on other versions. It is written assuming you have a general working knowledge of PSP.

Let’s get started!

First, open a new canvas 500 x 500.

Open Paper06, resize 50%, copy and paste it onto your canvas.

Apply boundlessbliss_grungemask_1, merge group.

Duplicate masked layer. Image>Mirror.

Open ChainLink2, resize 67%, copy and paste onto your canvas. It should be your top layer.

Duplicate ChainLink2, rotate 90 degrees left (Ctrl+R). Save your progress.

Add a small drop shadow to your chainlink layers. I used 3, 3, 55, 3, black.

Open GlitterBits2, copy and paste onto your canvas. It should be your top layer.

Apply Mura’s Meister: Copies using these settings:

Open Paper27, resize 50%, copy and paste onto your canvas. It should be your top layer.

Open Frame 19, resize 77%, copy and paste onto your canvas. It should be your top layer.

Activate your magic wand tool (tolerance & feather set to 0), click inside your frame.

Selections>Modify>Expand by 4. Selections>Invert.

Activate your Paper27 layer, hit delete. Selections>None. Save your progress.

Open your tube. I used the close-up here. Copy and paste it onto your canvas, below your frame, above Paper27.

Change the blend mode to Luminance & lower the opacity to 50.

Activate your magic wand tool (tolerance & feather set to 0), click inside your frame.

Selections>Modify>Expand by 4. Selections>Invert.

Activate your tube/close-up layer, hit delete. Selections>None. Save your progress.

Add a small drop shadow to your frame. I used 3, 3, 55, 5, black.

Open an element of choice. I used HeartCharm1. Arrange it at the top left corner of your frame.

Duplicate. Image>Mirror. Merge the two HeartCharm1 layers.

Add a small drop shadow to your charms. I used 3, 3, 55, 5, black.

Duplicate the merged charm layer. Image>Flip. Note the Position Y number. Undo the Flip. Now, change the Position Y number to the one you saw when you Flipped it. (This assures that it’s lined up and evenly spaced with the charms at the top of the frame, but keeps the hearts right side up.)

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer. (I resized mine 80%). It should be your top layer.

Arrange how you like & add a drop shadow. I used 0, 5, 55, 8, black and 0, -5, 55, 8, black. Save your progress.

Add your name in font of choice. Apply gradient glow (optional) and / or drop shadow.

Add your credits and license number (if applicable).

Save as .png and you’re done!

Punk Love Tag Tutorial

Supplies needed:

Scrapkit of choice - I used my own PTU kit “Punk Love”. If you’re interested in purchasing the kit, visit Digital Chaos.

Scraps needed: 1 paper, frame, leaves or doodle, flower or other accent

Tube or Image of choice – I am using an awesome customizable tube by Ismael Rac, www.xeracx.com. You can purchase his tubes at his website. Do not use his work unless you have purchased the right to do so.

Font of choice – I am using “Digs My Heart”, but you can use any font you like.

Plugin – Mura’s Meister: Copies & Eye Candy 3.1 Glow (You can get both for free).

All links and supplies shared with permission.

This tutorial is written using PSP X2, but should be easy to do on other versions. It is written assuming you have a general working knowledge of PSP.

Let’s get started!

First, open a new canvas 600 x 600.

Open Paper05, resize 60%, copy and paste it onto your canvas.

Open Frame18, resize 40%, sharpen, copy and paste it onto your canvas.

Activate your magic wand tool (tolerance & feather set to 0), click inside your frame.

Selections>Modify>Expand by 15. Selections>Invert.

Activate your paper layer, hit delete. Selections>None.

Copy and paste your tube above your frame layer. Resize as necessary. Add a drop shadow. (I used 5, 5, 55, 8, black.)

Duplicate your frame. Drag the duplicate frame above your tube. Erase the parts of it that cover up your tube, except at the bottom, so it looks like your tube is coming out of the frame.

Back on your tube layer, erase the parts of it that show below the bottom of the frame.

Save your progress.

Go to your original (bottom-most) frame layer. Add a drop shadow. I used the same one as on the tube.

Open Leaves02. Resize 40%, and copy & paste it onto your canvas. Drag it so it’s the bottom layer.

Apply Mura’s Meister Copies: Encircle, using the following settings:

Add your accents of choice. I used Flower5 resized 50%, and Flower1 resized 40%, and Love1 resized 85%.

Add a drop shadow to your accents. I used the same one as before.

Add your copyright info and, if applicable, license number.

Now – to add your name & get it to curve around –

Activate your preset shape tool & choose circle. Foreground any color, background turned off, line width 2 or 3.

Draw out a circle (top layer) about the size of the outside edge of your frame.

Activate your text tool. Foreground off, background set to color you want for your name.

Now, hover your little text tool (with the A) over the top left of your circle until a little curvy line shows up under the “A”, then click to use your text tool.

Write out your name; apply the text tool. If the fonts not where you want it, you can make the circle larger or smaller, or move your name along the circle.

Once you have it where you want it – hide your circle layer. Your text should be visible, but your circle should not. Convert to Raster layer.

Apply gradient glow (optional) and / or drop shadow.

Save as .png and you’re done!
